Brough of Birsay - Orkney Isles

This large painting was inspired by a visit to the Orkney Isles in May 2017, a family day out and picnic to the Brough of Birsay a local landmark on a lovely sunny may day.

We were there on a family holiday with my Grandaughter and we were lucky to enjoy mostly fine sunny weather. But as we settled down to a picnic a shower squall made an appearence and sent everyone running for their cars.

To many, the day is ruined but to a painter it just became much more interesting.
